School Structure
Students need a safe place to belong, and parents need a caring environment for their children. BArT's small size and extended day/year are designed to support solid and meaningful relationships between students, teachers, parents and other members of the school community.
Academics
Some students do not fit traditional approaches to learning; they are bored or confused by the way subjects are taught. BArT uses the arts and technology to engage students with diverse talents and interests, and provides them with a college preparatory curriculum to help develop critical skills for the modern world.
Instruction
We regard teaching as a public act, and expect our teachers to commit themselves to continuously improving their craft. All core teachers will be members of a grade-level team, and work collaboratively on curriculum and instruction.
Community
We believe a healthy and productive community is critical to our mission. Learning is an inherently social activity and research in the field of psychology and cognitive development indicates the critical role community plays in learning. BArT will embed the learning process in an intellectual community where all members, especially students, feel respected and important.
Student Enrollment
BArT is a free public school and open to all students. Review the enrollment page to find out more about our admissions policy and how to enroll your child.
